Video: Ruinas de Quilmes

I sorted out some of the best photos and places from my South America backpacking trips and stumbled over a photo set of the “ruinas de quilmes”. A place definitely worth a visit, even the tride through the desert was really amazing. Even though I am Austrian I usually don’t have the urgent need to walk or climb on every bigger rock, but in Quilmes I really enjoyed it. Afterwards I realized that my small backpack was - of course - filled with books ;) I just needed the camera and some water :)

Chan Chan - A Pre-Columbian City near Trujillo (Peru)

When I was doing my internship at Minka Peru in Trujillo, a friend of mine showed me Chan Chan. Chan Chan is the largest Pre-Columbian city in South America. Some of the pictures below give you an impression how big this city was. I was pretty amazed by the ornaments on the walls, the museum and surrounding sites are also very interesting. We did a lot of great pictures there and had a lot of fun.

Ruinas de Quilmes - Ruins of Quilmes

The ruins of Quilmes are a very interesting place, if you like to walk some rough places and take great pictures.

This place was a fortress, first against other South American Natives and later against the Spanish. The fortresses are called “pucarás” in their native language. Between the hills Quilmes inside Amaicha del Valle, Tucumán you may find a museum called “Ruinas de Quilmes” which exhibits objects from the natives and hotel.
